Veneers

Veneers are routinely used to cover teeth that are discolored, worn, chipped or misaligned. Veneers are used for many of the same purposes as bonding, but involve a different procedure.

Veneers are thin shells of porcelain or resin that measure less than 1.5mm thick. To apply one, we prepare your tooth first by removing a small amount of enamel from it. Then we take an impression of the prepared tooth. It may be necessary to place a temporary veneer on the tooth while the impressions are sent to a dental laboratory to have the veneer manufactured. When ready, we cement the veneer into place.

Although veneers are more expensive and time-consuming to apply than bonding, they are less expensive and better at conserving tooth structure when compared to crowns. Typically, veneers are difficult to stain, making them a very popular solution for people seeking that perfect smile. Strong and very durable, veneers usually last from 10 to 15 years, and come in colors that will brighten dark teeth without the worry of them changing color.
